Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a non-profit organization which trains volunteers to help "make sure children who have experienced abuse or neglect can be safe, have a permanent home, and achieve a bright future." Advocates connect with children, often in the foster care system, to act as their advocate as they move through the Children and Youth Services system.
Each year, CASA selects an advocate to be honored at the gala as Advocate of the Year. The video serves to introduce the advocate prior to them receiving their award at the gala. This advocate was assigned to a medically fragile case, where she advocated for the child through complex medical issues until he ultimately passed away. The advocate was honored for her tireless dedication to ensuring this child was cared for and loved throughout a very trying process.
Filmiamo filmed interviews and b-roll at the advocate's home and then travelled to a local cemetery for additional b-roll to tell the story. Using drone shots, b-roll and interviews, Filmiamo produced a piece showing how important advocates are in every foster situation.
